Potty training

Aug, 28, 2007

As you may know, my son is 30 months old.
I have been thinking of potty training him since he turned two. He never liked to be changed so I changed his dipper to the pull up type very early, when he cloud keep his balance wearing pants.
The pull up dipper is like regular dipper to him, it doesn’t bother him and he doesn’t think of it as under wear.

I had heard that the best time to start potty training is summer so I picked a week that the weather was good and I had all the time to give him attention. For 3 to 4 days, he was bear butt, no dipper no under wear, and he was pretty good. Minimum accidents, I can say he loved it. Then we had to go out and I had to put dipper on him, now everything is back to how it was before; except that he tells the number 2 but not 1.
I don’t know I’m not sure what I did wrong or he wasn’t just ready for it.
Maybe I’m persistent enough, I ask if he wants to go and if says he doesn’t I don’t force him; I believe this is something that he has to want for himself like the number 2 that he always goes to the bathroom.

It’s been a month now that we started, and we’ll see what happens next. When I’m just too tired and think that is going no where; keep reminding myself that there is no single adult that has not been potty trained.

This is inevitable; eventually he will learn to do it properly.

I will continue writing on this subject, some how I want to record it so he knows how it’s been done when he was a small child.
Later we meet!!

I have to say it was easier that I thought. We kept going back and fort with pull ups and under wear. One week he would go in the potty the other week he would not. He would pee pee in potty and poop in dipper and then switch. The thing is I was persistent to ask him but not force him to go potty, I know my son he is a stubborn just like me. I made it look like his choice. I kept telling him that big boys wear big boy underwear and go in potty, so if he think he is big enough he has to start doing that.

He goes to daycare once a week. The other boy in the daycare was in the process of potty training too. One day three months ago he came home and told me he doesn’t want to wear dipper even at night. It was scary for me thinking of him in underwear at night, but I said OK. That was the end of dipper, we have accidents sometime but very rarely.

So far so good, I have more work getting used to ask him go potti before we go out, or before getting back in the car wherever we are.
