Well finally, after 4 years we are going to a sunny destination. There were a lot going on and never a good time to go.

I’m so excited and hope that the kids will enjoy and behave too. It’s been a long week for me, managing work, our bills, my son’s pre school documents, tax related mails. Above all the kids got ear infection earlier in the week. Some how lots of things happened this week.

I think I’m ready for a break, it will be nice to just spend out times together. There will be no computer, no phone, or work, or housework, and I can just enjoy my husband and my lovely kids. I hope it to be smooth trip, I went to a $store and bought them a few activity for the duration of flights.

It’s 2:43 am and we should leave at 3:30am, I decided not to sleep tonight, there was no point sleeping as I always go to bed at 1:00am. I have to find the ear drop our Dr. recommended for the flight, I think I packed it with all other stuff.

I will write a big report when I come back.

I feel sunny and warm.

until next time.

Finally I find the guts to cancel my son’s day care, thanks to the ladies at www.ivillage.com message board for 2-3 years old.

He was going to a day care on and off once a day weekly since he was 6 months old. All his day cares were small home based but licensed. The first one he went to since he was 6 months old, it was OK until he was a year old then for two sessions he would cry uncontrollable that the teacher called me to pick him up and after the second time she told me that it’s better to stop the day care. My son’s excitement and over joy is becoming a problem. He is a very good boy, helps a lot and talks and eats with manner, but the thing is when he get excited he is out of it. He can’t control his feeling and excitement, I know he is only three but somehow I think I have to fix this until its too late. The other night he was so excited that he couldn’t bring his voice down or stop running until he broke a glass by mistake, then he got scared of what he did and stopped, but kept talking about the incident.

My mission is to find a solution for this, a way to help him control his emotions. I will update this subject promptly.

Until next time

So it happened, the earth started a new turn around the Sun. It’s finally spring, although the weather doesn’t show it!

The New Year happened at 10:48 pm Pacific time. My son was so excited that he didn’t sleep until he opened and tried all his gifts, it was around midnight that we finally got him to sleep. My daughter slept at the bedtime routine but woke up in time for New Year. They both had lots of fun opening the gifts and talking to other members of family on the phone.

Our New Year celebration lasts 13days, and in the first 12 days, everyone tries to call and visit their family and friends, the 13th day is to go to nature and enjoy and rest to start the New Year. In Iran most businesses are closed for the first 3days of the year and then the 13th day which is called “sizdah be dar” the New Year celebration is officially finished after “Sizdah be dar”.  Sizdah Be Dar is either on the first or second of April, and we have exactly the same thing as April fool which is called “Doroogh e Sizdah”, I don’t know if it’s a coincidence or the origin of the two are the same.

Both kids are very excited and having lots of fun. We go friends houses and have friends over and they get to eat lots of candy every where we go and open a few gifts.

Nowrooz Table Setting called Haft SeenNowrooz Table Setting called Haft Seen

I’m an Iranian mom living in Vancouver BC. I believe in happiness and that we have to do what ever we can to bring more happiness in our lives and homes. So even before I had kids I put Christmas tree and had my in-laws and parents over for Christmas dinner, but we celebrate Nowrooz, the first day of Spring, as our New Year and the most important holiday. It was all fine until this year. My son is 3 years old and he now understands Santa and Holidays, this year he wanted it all, we took Santa pictures, as usual, we put a Christmas tree and all. It was nice and he loved, I loved it too! He was so excited about Santa that I couldn’t believe it, the year before in our Santa picture he was crying afraid of Santa. Christmas ended and I noticed that Christmas was such a big event for him and it was so musical and colorful and most of all was a national holiday and he was talking about it weeks after.
