The other week my son locked me out of the house. All my fault.
That’s how it happened, my client was at the door to get her ticket. It was going to be a minute, so I ran downstairs without my keys and with my son, leaving my daughter upstairs behind the closed gate.
It was windy and I didn’t my son to be exposed to the wind, so I went outside and closed the door. In that one minute he turned the lock and I couldn’t get back in. Good thing is that I had my cell phone with me, so I could call my husband to rush home but it would took him almost two hours to get home and the kids wouldn’t last that long.
My son was very excited and playful at first but when he saw I really can’t get in he got scared. It took me 20 minutes of instruction on how to turn the lock until he did it. I will never leave my keys and I think he learned his lesson and will never lock the door.
This is a problem with many families, I’m lucky he doesn’t lock the bedroom or bathroom doors. One of the parents in the www.ivillage.com message board had this problem with the inside doors and found a solution at www.no-lock.com.
This won’t work for my problem but perhaps can solve problems of many other parents.
Until next time
It is such a beautiful day today. I can actually smell the roses
It’s the first time after my daughter was born that I can sit and write and do whatever I want in day time, with the kids around.
My kids are actually playing in harmony together, and I’m sitting here writing and constantly testing my son’s cooking
Life is beautiful, no complaints here. My daughter is 14months and she has no clue what they are playing but she is happy that he is playing with her.
We were supposed to go to the playground but as usual, my son was so difficult to get ready that I finally gave up and decided to let him be and see what happens may be he decides to go out and cooperate with me. Then he started playing and I noticed he is having so much fun playing with his sister and their toys, this was better than playground for them, they were actually interacting. Here we are enjoying our day at home playing.
This is a big change for me, I used to run around the house and do all kinds of chores or taking calls from my clients, while watching them playing in the family room. Today is different, they are playing in my daughter’s room and there is no way for me to do my chores and watch them at the same time, it looks like I’m on a break and being served by the most exquisite chefs
my lovely 3 years old son
I guess from time to time I just have to forget my other responsibilities and enjoy playing with the kids, it’s so relaxing.
Oh finally my daughter is sleeping well.
I feed her and put her in her crib with a sippy cup of water and she just sleeps. Just like that, she sleeps and she sleeps through the night.
It took me almost a month to do this. I started with putting her in her crib and stay in her room while she was crying, then the crying got better and I stayed in the room for a shorter amount of time. For midnights, I just had to endure few nights of crying. This was the difficult part; I just wanted to go to her and feed her and comfort her. I did it, now she goes to bed usually on time and she just falls asleep.
So there you go, sleeping problem solved
