Cool Toddler activity

My son loves to mix things and get messy. Finally I found a cleaner solution, both of them get entertained and it’s not that messy.

We make finger paints together. It’s easy equal parts of flour and water plus 1/4 teaspoon of salt and a few drops of food coloring. I’ll give him all the ingredients to drop in the mixing bowl and give him a whisk to whisk it. This keeps him happy and busy twice the time. He spends time making it and painting with it.

It is not messy at all; you just have to be careful with the food coloring when adding to the mix. The stain will remain on your skin if touched before mixing. When mixed I think the salt make it washable.

I give him a plate to put the paint on and then some cards to stamp on. After he is all done with the paint, I dump the remaining in a pot and add some more salt, almost the same amount of flour, and 1/2 teaspoon of cream tartar and bake it until I get the consistency of play dough.

I found this activity very entertaining and useful for my kids. My son learned that he can make his messes but within my rules. It’s a win win situation :)

I hope you also enjoy this activity and maybe share the ones that you find entertaining.
