Eco friendly all natural cleaners
There are lots of articles about the hazardous of the house hold cleaning products to ecology. It is very important to know how our way of living affects our surroundings.
To me any kind of chemical cleaner with few exception are harmful to the health of my family. I think even the smell or the residue of the cleaner is harmful.
The only things I use easily are hand soaps and dish soaps, laundry detergents, and toilet bowl cleaners. This is mainly because I haven’t looked or find a more practical alternative for them yet. For the rest of my cleaning needs I use Baking Soda and White vinegar. These two items are my best friends in home cleaning.
I have a spraying bottle of a 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda and couple of tablespoon full of white vinegar and a spray full of water for cleaning all windows and mirrors and all table surfaces. I use this spray to clean my kitchen counter and breakfast table or where ever my kinds may drop food and pick up to eat.
To clean floor I use again 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda, a bucket of warm water, a few drops of vinegar, a few drops of dish soap. I also add a spoon of baking soda to my laundry load; if I’m washing kitchen towel and tea towels I even add a cup of white vinegar. I don’t use bleach in any condition.
The other week my daughter got her light blue pants dirty in the park, the stain didn’t go away with my normal wash. I didn’t put it in the dryer instead took it to the kitchen dumped a lot of baking soda on it and a bit of warm water and left it for an hour. After an hour I just rubbed the area a bit, added more water and a little bit of white vinegar and left it for couple of hours. The stain was gone and my husband couldn’t believe I didn’t use bleach.
To clean bathtub I also use baking soda to wash with and then a little of vinegar to rub some more and then rinse. To clean around the faucets and hard to reach areas I use a towel soaked in vinegar to put on or around that area and leave it be over night.
The combination of baking soda and lemon juice, which I sometime substitute with vinegar, works miracle on burned oil on the stove top or even baking dishes.
So basically its not rocket science, I just use what I’ve got in my kitchen.
Until later,
