Procrastinator a bad role model for children

1058971_thinking1.jpgOk game is over, I have to confess. I think  I’m a procrastinator. Why ? because I have so many unfinished projects that I can’t remember some of them. I looked the work procrastination in Wikipedia and I fall into the category.

I can think of a few reasons whyI’m trapped in this loop. Here are some:

  • Can’t say NO easily. If any one, specialy someone close, wants me to do something for them or go somewhere, most of the times I can’t say no.
  • Misjudge the time needed for a project
  • Ask too much of myself, or I can say I want to try everything
  • Start projects easily

Parents are the biggest role model for their kids, and I don’t want my children learn this habit from me. I’m  reading everything on the web regarding this. I listen to personal improvement tapes. So far what I’ve got from it is that I have to find the feeling associated with procrastination. Then change the feeling, manually. Meaning when I notice I’m procrastinating consciously I do something to have a better feeling about that act. My husband advised me to tell myself “I want to do this now” instead of “I can get to it later” ?

Anthony Robbins in his personal improvement tape tell you to make you plans known to people that you care. Make it public so that if you don’t follow will be painful.
I don’t know probably it works. I was also reading Carol Hasley’s news letter on organization and she has a tip how to get something done in half the time by concentrating 100% on that project.

Here is my commitment; I plan to finish one project a week. And not to start a new project until I’m done with the pending ones. One other thing is to prioritize my daily chores and concentrate on the most important one. Although this task is a bit difficult to do when you run a house hold with two toddlers and a business with out any outside help?

One of the big steps and projects was to have at least one post a day. Well that was my plan since the end of Jul, I can see that it’s not happening. So I’m going to be more realistic and make it 2 posting a week.

Well we’ll see the outcome. You can check on the postings and I’m going to write updates on this little improvement.

Until later,
