I guess my son is dealing with a lot lately. He is angry and very opinionated lately. It’s not bad to be opinionated but he expresses himself in a very angry way. He also talks about punishing others for things they have done or haven’t done.
A few days ago, my mom was babysitting here in our home when I was studying downstairs. He was so difficult and unmanageable that my mom called me and left. She didn’t want him to get used to be rude to her so she left. He was sorry after wards, called, and apologized. I think this is some way of tantrum; he has no control over himself when he gets to this stage.
Yesterday my mom was supposed to baby-sit for me again, in her home though. From the time I started getting them ready to leave. He started bothering his sister bad mouthing and even shouting at me. Read the rest of this entry »
I’m a kind of mother that don’t bug my kids to eat what and how I tell them to. I just provide them with good healthy choices and make the plate fun and colorful.
My daughter is a snack eater. She gets all her daily intake from her snacks. I had to come up with snack ideas that has all the nutrition she needs in a day.
My snack for them contains of four parts: 1-fruit and/or vegetable 2-some kind of carbohydrate 3-nuts and dried fruit 4-Milk or dairy product.
Some sample plates of snacks for us are:
- Melon balls, strawberry, cheese cracker, walnuts and raisins, cup of milk
- Cucumber, carrots, pita with cream cheese, almonds and dried cranberry, orange juice
- Bananas, apple, blueberry, graham cookies, Macadamia nuts dried apricot, yogurt
- Brockley, celery, veggie whole wheat crackers, peanuts, hard cheese.
These were only a few of ideas. I work the menu playfully, with taste and color. The only thing that I notice that if I have some sweet fruit, it’s better to have almost the same taste in other items too.
And the other way round I don’t put strawberries with brockley, they will have all the strawberry and no brockley.
As I said before my daughter eats snacks better than a meal. Sometimes to the brockley platter I add cutup schnitzels and yogurt instead of cheese and serve it as a meal.
I don’t force her to have something she doesn’t like but introduce it over and over. They say it takes kids tens times of trying something to get used it. I do that and combine many different foods to make her like her plate and get excited about her meal time.
I hope this has helped all other moms dealing with their toddler’s eating habit. You are not alone:)

My son started preschool last week. Let me tell you finding the right preschool was difficult. Getting used to the routine not so much. I love it that they have to wake up early, and we have to leave the house before 8:30. It’s the perfect situation for me, except for my son’s unique separation anxiety.
No, he won’t cry at the entrance or after that in the class. He will start being difficult and cranky as soon as he wakes up. He bothers his sister enormously, somehow like getting a revenge that she gets to stay home. At the door he just hugs me very tight and takes time to say goodbye.
On pickup, he sheds a little tear when he sees me, and then crankiness will continue for half a day.
I guess its all fine, they keep telling me I have to be patient and he will get used to school in no time.
I bet each child has his own way of separation anxiety. Don’t be shy share your story with us.

I use craigslist a lot for buying and selling stuff for my kids.
Selling stuff is very easy. Just have a great picture and be honest about the condition of the item. But I always had trouble finding the right items to buy. It takes a long time to go over all ads one by one.
Recently, I was looking for the sturdy kitchen table. This was something I didn’t want to buy new as it was going to be used for craft time and eating. You know kids; they won’t let you get away with a nice thing.
I kept looking and looking but the search was useless with two kids running around distracting me. Finally, I found a very user friendly website ” clhack.com” it shows all the craigslist for sale ads visualy and you can even narrow down your search to the specifics. The nice thing about clhack is that it shows all the pictures for all ads in a category say furniture on a single page. With a glance you can choose the item you might be interested in. I tell you, it’s amazing. When you hover over a picture it zooms in so you can see better.
I found my table in a matter of minutes thanks to this incredible website. Kudos to the person who came up with the idea for this website.
Try it for yourself, I’m sure you’ll love it.
