My sleeping disorder

I always had difficulty sleeping. When I was younger and single I had trouble falling asleep and when I did, the quietest sound would wake me up but I would go back to sleep. I fixed that problem with having a glass of wine at bed time.

I was always a late sleeper. I go to bed no sooner than midnight if not one am and wake up at 7:30am or if I’m lucky 8am. This is not working for me. My kids are fine because all of us sleep in; I’m the first one to wake up.

But this is not good, we can’t get to any toddler program in time or at all. And worst is that I’m tired in the morning and early evening. But when the kids are in bed and sleep, and the house is quite. It’s like my dream come true. I get energized and ready to work for another five hours.

I have to stop this vicious circle; I know I feel better and be more patient during the day if I sleep right. It happened before for a few weeks!! I need to take baby steps and do this.
I need to wake up earlier and I’m going to study early risers.

Love to here your tips.

Until later,

    I used to have the same problem until I finally forced myself to get into a routine. I still get really tired during the day, especially in the afternoon, but it’s a lot better than it used to be.

    The best thing I did for myself is to start going to bed earlier. I used to go to bed at 2 a.m. but now I’m always in bed before midnight. I read this article too last year and bookmarked it since it had such a profound effect on me. It will probably help you too. It’s long, but well worth the read!

    I’m a night owl and stay up until 2am most nights. Thanks to my children I’m always up by 7:30am. I gave up caffeine in August of last year and found that I had more energy and all of a sudden became a morning person. My husband was shocked at the change in me. I slipped a few times on our road trip and then had to drink more caffeine to keep the headaches away. I want to quit again but am dreading the two weeks of withdrawal headaches and crankiness. I know it is worth it in the end, the road there is just too hard! I have to admit, it was nice falling asleep by 10pm and bouncing out of bed in the morning.

    I too am facing this problem. I know the best two things I could do to help myself would be to 1) cut out the caffeine 2) get regular exercise. Both would give me more energy as well as promote healthy sleep habits. All easier said than done!

    @Cassie

    Thanks I read that article and things are a lot better now. Because I can wake up an hour earlier I go to bed earlier too.

    @ Stacey & Amy
    I don’t drink coffee, maybe three cups of tea a day. But I cut my sugar intake just to be healthy and I have more energy and feel a lot better all day long.
