Our Easter Bunny Breakfast

As I mentioned before I’m not quite familiar with the religious culture of Canada yet. I do celebrate Christmas as a national holiday and our Norouz as Iranian New Year. But never Easter, I have to say I don’t know how it’s done family wise.

This year a friend of mine offered to go to an Easter Bunny Breakfast, organized by our neighborhood recreation center.  It was wonderful and the kids loved it. There were lots of kids from age two to six; there was a craft table that they got to decorate their bags. There were coloring pages on the breakfast table to keep them busy until breakfast.

For breakfast they had pancake and sausage and juice. Then after breakfast it was time for the big show. Easter Bunny came with a basket full of chocolate; we followed him to the playground. It was so nice watching these little kids following Easter bunny with such joy and collecting Easter egg chocolates.

The good thing was that after a long time the weather was also nice and every one was in a good mood. At the end Easter bunny said goodbyes and shook hand with every kid.

This was such a good exercise for us, the kids and I got to know what Easter is about and I also enjoyed watching my kids enjoying their experience with other kids their age. It’s a wonderful thing that in multicultural cities like Vancouver, the city plans these kind of events to remind or familiarize community members of beautiful cultures like this.

I thought I don’t know these things because I wasn’t raised here, but today I saw many parents who were saying they don’t remember how Easter was done. They had memories of their young childhood but nothing more. So I’m not alone :)

The only downside of this event was that my son wants a bunny for pet now. Well we’ll see about that !!

Until later,
