I’ve heard so many good stories about Children hospital. I had to go there once when my daughter was very young for her heart murmur. The staff was wonderful and very understanding with parents and children.
This is how it is supposed to be, it is a children’s hospital after all!!!! I have been told by my physician to go to children hospital without a doubt in case of emergency with my children. This is when we have a hospital within five-minute drive from home and children hospital is at least half an hour distance.
A friend of mine was there because of her son last night and her experience with the radiologist was awful. She said it was like gas chamber; there was a seat that they strap the child to it to do the x-ray. It is understandable that they have to keep the child staying still to do the x-ray but a little of good attitude and understanding is a good thing to have in children’s hospital.
Her experience with this young lady was that she took her sleeping toddler out of her hand removed the mother from the room and then started to strap the kid. She didn’t let the mother to wake the child, or explain what will happen, or even listen that he had done this procedure before and he is fine sitting still there is not need to strap him.
What happened, is that the mother was locked out of the room listening to her son screaming in terror. Poor kid was waked up by a stranger while being strapped to a chair without any site of her mom, and we are talking about a 2 and a half-year-old sick boy who was there for dehydration.
Obviously my friend was very upset but all she did was telling the radiologist that she will understand what harm she caused her and her child when she has one her own. I would be mad and to the supervisor immediately. This is something I can’t handle quietly, I told her she has to complain to the head of hospital.
I understand people can have all kinds of personal problem and it was midnight, but this is not an excuse to act like this with any patient let alone a small child. One of the reason that people take their children to children’s hospital is that they want their children to be cared by professionals who have trained for it, who understand children and who know how to connect with one.
This act had such an impact on him that he woke up in morning and told the story to his dad in such detail. I hope he will get over it soon, but I think they will have few nightmares before that happens.
I have no idea how I would react if I were in my friends place and I wish no mother experience such a thing.
Until later,

Warning to all new moms — stay away from WestCoast Kids in Richmond. Their stuff may be appealing, but the customer service is atrocious. After waiting 12 weeks for a glider chair (estimated time 6-8 weeks), apparently they ordered the wrong one. They take no ownership for their mistakes, provide no compensation or discount and are completely incompetent. I’m due in a few days and can’t tell you the agony it has been dealing with them during what is supposed to be a resting period in my pregnancy. There have been a whole host of other issues including being told some items were in and ready to be picked up to find that after waiting 1 hour at the store for them to get it together that they didn’t have items in at all. Then they didn’t even apologize for our inconvenience. I don’t have the energy to list the other atrocities. I beg you, for your own sanity – don’t do it. TJ’s or Baby’s World are WAY better to deal with. Good luck!
I’m so sorry to hear you are dealing with these unnecessary problems at the last weeks of your pregnancy. I know it is nice to have all the things you need when the baby is born, but make sure not to stress out yourself. It is more important to stay calm in these last few weeks. It is amazing that although the business world is about customer service now a days, still we have companies that don’t care for their customers.
