Thank you for your comment. This is a good question, no body really knows. It is different from kid to kid. Find something else that comforts him, this may also be a power thing too. Maybe he is trying you to see how far he can go and get what he wants. I'm hoping he is fine by now. Keep me posted.

I am having similar problems with my 29 month old. He started chewing the silicone off the pacifiers, making them dangerous for him to have unsupervised. We took the "binky" away and told him that it was gone gone. The first day he did great. The second day he asked for it and we said gone gone. He would cry at night for an hour or two before exhausting himself and falling asleep. He would wake crying periodically through the night. A week later he stopped taking naps, he just cries and asks for his binky. When will this end? I am losing my mind.

I'm sitting here while my daughter, once again, cries herself to sleep. She cries during the evening, in the middle of the night and then periodically through the day. She's miserable now because she never gets a good nights sleep and she absolutely refuses to take any type of nap. Her behavior is totally different, she is almost intolerable. I feel so awful about how she is feeling but I do KNOW I can't let her have her paci. Ugh, I thought it would be some sleepless nights and then we'd move on, this has uprooted our life. UGH.
