reward_board

I was thinking of making a reward board for a long time, but never got in to it. Until my son fixated on having this expensive talking Buzz Lightyear, I didn’t want to buy it for him obviously. But had to do something to get his mind out of convincing me to buy that. So I made this reward board, and told him if he gets 5 happy faces each week he gets some allowance and then he can save his money and buy that toy himself, because I’m not buying it.

He has to behave and be good to his sister to receive a happy face at the end of the day. I can’t tell you how many times a day we change from happy face to sad face and back to happy face again, but we are more focused on getting the happy face instead of the Buzz Lightyear.

Here is how to make the reward board.

You need:

1 scrapbook card (I used the standard size 11in. To fit my magnet board)

Pictures of your kid/kids

Scissors or paper cutter (I used Fiskars shape cutter)

Double sided 3D-Dots tapes

Adhesive round Velcro

Marker in desired colors

1 Plastic paper cover

Two different color cards (one bright and one dark) to cut out the faces

Draw vertical and horizontal lines on the card, dividing the card in sizes that suites your family. I divided the page in 4 sections first one about one inch from the top for my days of the week, then the other two about 2 inches, wide enough to have my pictures in the centre of each, and just left the rest of the page as is. Then to know where to tape the Velcors crossed the vertical line with a horizontal to separate each days of week.

Cut your picture to the shape and size you want on the board and tape them on with the 3D-Dots tapes. It will give the board a different dimension.  Then cut the two different color cards in small circles and draw a happy face on the bright color and a sad face on the dark color circles.

Stick the Velcros on the proper sections on the board and the matching part on the back of the faces. I created seven happy faces and seven sad faces for each kid so if they get any of the faces the whole week I have enough.

Cut the plastic paper cover across about 3 inches from the bottom, and tape it to your board. You can store all the faces here.

This is a very basic reward board but works for us perfectly and I can use a magnet have it on my fridge or on my magnet board.

I’m planning to create a downloadable template, hopefully I will finish that soonJ.

Until later,
